Project / Phase completions date implies that tangible outcome should have been delivered by that date, and acknowledged by relevant stakeholders.

Evaluation Criteria

Project of the year (Large, Medium, Small and Micro)
  • Demonstrated originality and uniqueness of applied project management techniques including innovative application of practices/methods.
  • Though the award reads “Project of the year”, the outcome is due to the underlying usage of project management techniques that needs to be rewarded due to.
  • Meeting or improving on cost and schedule performance when compared to original/initial goals/objectives.
  • Exhibiting technical aspects and advancement of the project management profession consistent with global standards in project management – an example being “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide)” – Seventh Edition or its equivalent.
  • Demonstrating excellence in overcoming inherent complexity of the project and unusual conditions, issues and barriers that required special team performance and actions.
  • Showcasing customer/client/project sponsor delight for having met/exceeded expectations as evidenced by letters of appreciation.
Project of the year (Contribution to community, NGO)
  • Met or exceeded sponsor/stakeholder needs as evidenced by letter(s) from the sponsor/governing body of the organization that was impacted by the project.
  • Met or exceeded UND-SDG targets.

Nomination Procedure

The nominee will have to submit online form about the nomination before Dec 31, 2025 on the link shared
  • The form will include information on processes related to the various knowledge areas or similar or equivalent processes
  • At this stage, nominee may upload documents as attachments (up to a max of 30 MB). The submitted documents should be related to project management processes rather than documents containing purely technical information. It may include sample documents and artifacts of the processes. For e.g. Work Breakdown Structure, Schedules, Cost Estimates, Quality and Risk Plans, Progress Reports, Change Management Plans, Procurement documents, Staffing and Communication plans.
  • All the documents submitted should be converted to a PDF non-editable format. The documents should be compressed into a single folder using WinZip etc. so that only a single compressed entity gets uploaded.
The nominee’s application will be evaluated by a panel of volunteer jury members appointed by PMI Pune-Deccan India Chapter Board. The results by email by Jan 21, 2026. Those successful at this stage will become the shortlisted nominees for the award. The final winner and runner up will be announced during DiSHA.

Award Applicant/Nominator Eligibility

The award applicant could be a sponsor, a senior member of the project team viz. equivalent of Project Manager, Program Manager, Project Director or a senior representative of the organization.

Verification Process and Selection

The ‘Project of the Year’ award evaluation will be done by an “at-large” panel of jury, established by PMI Pune-Deccan India Chapter Committee. Two nominations will be selected as the Winner and Runner-up for each award category. Selection will be made by Jan 21, 2026. The results of the PMIPDC Awards Program will be communicated to the awardees by the organizing committee. Formal announcement of the winner shall be made at the PMI DiSHA 2026 to be held on Feb 1, 2026.

General Terms and Conditions

  • The nomination package should be completed in conformance with the established format.
  • All necessary clearance, release, and permission needed for public release of all submitted materials will be obtained in writing.
  • Expenses will not be reimbursed for assembling the nomination package or for any presentation materials that may need to be created should the project be selected as the winner.

  • The decision of the designated panel of reviewers will be final.
  • In case the panel of reviewers feel that none of the individual submissions meet the minimum standards as stipulated in this web page, the award will stand cancelled and no Winner and/or Runner up will be announced.
  • The feedback collected from applicants during the submission process is treated anonymously. The feedback is not shared with the jury and have no bearing on evaluation of the nominations.
